I met three writers from overseas through interviews. They come from close to Japan and far from France and Britain. I have lived a different life than I am a Korean, and I have different ideas and work completely differently. One thing they had in common was that they were interested in Korean life and culture, rather than having a special purpose in Korea.The influences of Korean society on their work may vary, but they are different, but what is clear is that life in Korea has a charm that attracts writers from abroad. /2018

풍경을 자신의 장르로 선택하게 된건 작가의 성장 과정과 직접 관련이 있다. 서양화가 겐마 히사(Gemma Hisataka)의 고향은 나가노현 스와시(諏訪市) 가미스와(上諏訪)이다. 애니메이션 「너의 이름은」에서 여자 주인공인 미츠하가 살던 마을인 이토모리가 스와시에 위치한 스와호(諏訪湖)를 모델로 한다. 호수를 가운데에 두고 산이 둘러싸고 있다. 초등학교 4학년까지 삼나무가 군락을 이루는 신비스럽기조차 한 산골 가미스와에 살다 스와호 주변 도심지로 거주지를 옮겨 고등학교를 마치고 대학 진학을 위해 도쿄로 터전을 옮겼다. /2020

[JTN뉴스 이용제 객원기자] ‘겐마 히사타카’를 처음 만난 것은 3년 전 국내 유명 대학 대학원의 실습실이었다. 8명이 함께 쓰는 공동 작업실이었는데 함께 작업실을 사용하는 다른 작가와의 전시기획 미팅방문을 할 때면 다른 작가들과는 달리 항상 자신의 작업 앞에 자리하고 있었다.
작업과 마주한 그의 진지한 모습에 외국인 화가에 대한 관심이 생기기 시작했다. 그의 작업을 처음 접하였을 때 기자가 느낀 감정은 유화작업이 아닌 무언가 아크릴이나 수채화 재료를 가지고 만든 풍경상상화와도 같았다. 때로는 순지에 먹물로만 제주도의 풍경을 그려낸 작업도 있었다. 재료에 구애받지 않은 다양한 표현기법은 그림을 보는 즐거움을 주었다. /2015

When I first encountered his work, the emotions the reporter felt were not like oil paintings, but rather like landscape paintings made with acrylic or watercolor materials. GS타워 The Street Gallery에서는 8월 13일부터 9월 11일까지 전시「이어지는 삶 – 풍경을 걷다」로 일본작가 겐마 히사타카를 만나본다. 한국 생활을 시작한지 어언 3년이 되어가는 그는, 이곳에서 보고 느낀 경험의 흔적들을 캔버스에 담아낸다. 그는 우리가 쉽게 잊고 살아가는 감정들을 마치 포물선 그래프를 그리듯 삶의 리듬으로 표현한다. 작가에게 작업의 소재가 되는 풍경은 그저 재현과 묘사의 대상이 아니다. 그가 그리는 풍경은 한 장의 기록적인 풍경 묘사를 넘어 작가의 철학적 사상과 감정 그리고 경험이 담긴 삶의 흔적들이다. /2014
