[Haebangchon, a place where you can see the stage of life] Haebangchon is an area that includes parts of Yongsan 2-ga-dong and Yongsan 1-ga-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. East of Yongsan High School, south of Seoul Tower, Namsan It is a village formed on the hill below. Namsan 2 and 3 tunnels pass under the village.

Around April 2014, I visited this place for the first time after hearing a junior at school. The junior is an artist who paints and plays I was affiliated with it, but because the place where the theater company was active was none other than Haebangchon, I was able to introduce the scenery there to me. he is He told me that the point where Jangdokdae is piled up based on the large road leading from Noksapyeong Station is the entrance to Haebang Village. So that The memory of searching for Jangdokdae is still vivid.

Three years and three months have passed since I came to Korea. Before coming to Korea, Haebangchon had the atmosphere of Korea that he had drawn in his mind. It is the appearance of small houses lined up on a steep hill, that is, a village. I felt great charm as the drama of life unfolds in the background of the houses standing on a dramatic slope and the scenery seen by people who live close and share affection there. Even though I don't have much interest in dramas on TV, I am very interested in the stories we create ourselves in the reality we live in. Because drama is something we live and make every day.

Even before I visited Haebangchon, I had visited several places in Daldongne in Sindorim or Ahyeon-dong. Each place had its own charm. However, in Haebangchon, I felt a taste that could not be found anywhere else, so I started working on this place. At the entrance of the neighborhood, a signboard that reads “Haebang Village, a neighborhood where private houses and art harmonize” is impressive. I wanted to draw a landscape that contained the stories of people taking place here. The moment when countless stories and emotions that are passed away in life can relate to a certain place, it becomes a valuable place to remember life. That one place is just a point for some, but for some it is a valuable place that contains a lot of life stories. so I I try to draw a line by continuing the irreplaceable dots and leave a story of life. The Jangdokdae, which I saw when I first came here, are still standing there in the same form. If there is a past, there is a future. I hope that Jangdokdae will continue to be there, looking forward to how this neighborhood will change in the future.
